Dave Wintermute’s collection of Antique Caterpillar is one of a kind, just like Dave. He started running Caterpillar machines when he was 21 years old, and that was the beginning of a long 52-year career working with Cat – and it was the start of a hobby that continues to this day.
For more than 25 years, Dave has been collecting antique Cat machines. He was even the president of the Antique Caterpillar Owner’s Club. On most weekends you can find him with his brother Bill and friend Glen Buchel still working on the machines.
In this video Dave talks about what it takes to rebuild these antique machines, and how much time and effort they put into each one. He also talks about travelling the country with his rebuilt machines and the people he’s met along the way.
