Saturdays are for Service work. was created by ironman3406
Going to try and start something new here, "Saturdays are for service". I'll post service tips and tricks from Caterpillar over the years.
We will start it off with how to properly read the service meter and how it works on older Caterpillar equipment. Check out the article below from the Jan 1957 service reporter magazine.
Enjoy

Time for another Saturday Service tip from my Caterpillar archives. As a heavy duty mechanic by trade one of the most overlooked service items that I seen was valve lash adjustments. I know its a time consuming service item, but it is an important one for the health of your engine. Have a read from Caterpillar in the attached scans from a 1954 Service reporter magazine.
Hope you Enjoy, if your not doing anything today pull a engine into your shop and give the valves an adjustment.

It’s Saturday Service time again folks. Cutting edges (GET) keep you from wearing into the frog on your blade, but have you ever been trying to get new cutting edges for your old blade, and the part numbers in the manual aren’t any good no more. Well here is a chart from the July 1953 issue of the Caterpillar Service reporter showing the measurements needed for each blade and side bit so you can get them made or look at other suppliers.
Hope this helps you if your ever searching for blades.
