Late this summer, Yellow Power had the pleasure of being at the 65th Annual New York Steam Association Pageant of Steam which was held in Canandaigua, New York, from August 6-9. We thank the show’s organizers for a very cordial welcome.
65th Annual Pageant of Steam
Canandaigua, NY
This association officially began in 1960 after three men with an interest in steam engines got together a few years earlier to have a Steamup in Akron, New York, with the purpose to showcase antique equipment powered by steam and other motor operations. This show was originally hosted at private farms in Ontario County until 28 acres of land was purchased in 1971. That property has now grown to more than 100 acres.
Yellow Power was housed in a 120x70 foot building which was constructed to store about 40 machines in residence on the property. We were very happy to have been in the building during the torrential rain (almost five inches) from Tropical Storm Debby on Thursday but we had a couple of beautiful days.
59th Antique Engine & Tractor Show
Portland, IN
Later in the month, Yellow Power was welcomed by the Trii State Gas Engine and Tractor Association’s 59th Antique Engine and Tractor Show from August 21-24 in Portland, Indiana, at the Jay County Fairgrounds. They succeeded again this year in showcasing gas engines, steam and gas tractors, power farm machinery and historic equipment. The show grounds were crowded with a huge number of antique and craft dealers and hundred of tractors, engines and machines.
We were housed right in the midst of some beautiful machines and engines and had the pleasure of being able to see and hear many in action.
