You said it right at the end of your note Pete, when the clutches are adjusted properly and the gears in good shape they don’t smack ya too bad one they are dogged in one way or another they tend to stay until you release the lever.  Maybe that will have to be a Saturday service topic in the future… adjusting those gear boxes.

I am still looking for the input shaft cover for the wheel lean on a 12E. My other one is all cracked and letting water into the housing. I used to have the part number handy but not anymore. I'll post it here when I can find it

One of those covers must be out there somewhere in a junk yard. I'll check Quinn Used Parts (the old Parts Depot) next time I'm there.

Got to keep the water out of that gear box!

When I was a kid we had a #12 grader that we used on a 1/2 mile driveway. Dad would yell at me for driving too fast or taking too much material with each pass. In the end, I learned to be a decent grader operator but it took a while. Anyone else ever heard the term “cat skinner” for a good operator?
